Great episode!
Glad both Fallout and especially Castlevania are both recommended from your guys.
@Arthur
I’m with you, Game Dev story sound awesome! A big shame indeed it’s only available on the ipod platform.
Yeah, MMOs are a completely different beast. Horribly complicated balance between keeping the hardcore players happy and getting the social balance right for everyone else.
Even if Fallout Online turns into a great game I can see myself playing intensively for a month or two and then having to go cold turkey. I ran with a hardcore Aion guild for about 4 months – serious MMO is too much to deal with long term and TBH, that sort of hyper-optimised level grind doesn’t do it for me. Sad thing is that social/casual MMO play doesn’t really exist until you have a huuuuge player base or a really awesome alt experience.
All that talk about Game Dev Story makes me sad that i do not own an Iphone =/,
I’m off to to sabotage the Fallout MMO, going to break the index finger of everyone on the development team……………I can do that right?
Having never been an MMO fan a Fallout MMO would do nothing to change that.
The troubled legal history of the Fallout online rights fills me with no hope of this game being nothing but an abject failure.
But saying that 2012 is sometime off, a lot can happen.
Fallout Online could be awesome. I reckon there’s space in the market for some in-world faction-based MMO. Something like EVE but less scary hardcore meta-game and no asteroid mining.
