ThumbnailMany of you may know my opinions on the erosion of player rights, since I’m not shy about liberally spraying them all over the Internet. In particular, it seems to me, PC gamers have become the favourite chew-toy of publishers keen to hammer away at the coalface of piracy. I’ve stated before that I think that [...]

ThumbnailHere at Citizen Game, we’re mighty fond of a bargain. But how do you know if a cheap or even free game is worth your valuable time? After all, you could be out walrus wrestling, or reading poetry to molluscs, or whatever it is important people do these days now that we no longer have an economy. Luckily, our [...]

Bad news for the UK game development community today, as Develop reports that Sony Computer Entertainment Europe have closed portable gaming specialist BigBig Studios as part of a larger reorganisation of their British studio structure. Founded in 2001 by a group of former Codemasters employees and based in Leamington Spa, the studio was acquired by Sony [...]

Blizzard community manager Micah Whiple has confirmed the surprising news that hack and slash series Diablo will be making an appearance on some console platforms with the release of Diablo 3 . Responding to a question on Twitter, Whiple ( @bashiok) confirmed that veteran developer Josh Mosqueira of Relic Entertainment is heading up the company’s console push. Mosqueira’s [...]

Specialist video games retailer Game Group, which owns the high street chains Game and Gamestation, has seen shares tumble after announcing dire financial results today. It warned that continued poor results could mean it breaches its loan covenants. Shares took a significant hit in early trading on the London Stock Exchange, dropping more than 26 [...]

ThumbnailBethesda Softworks is a big cheese in the games industry right now, having developed the overwhelmingly well-received open world RPG, as well as developing a nice sideline in publishing, bringing out Splash Damage’s Brink and id software’s Rage, among others. With all that excitement, you might be forgiven for forgetting that Bethesda also owns the rights [...]

Hail citizen, and well met. It’s been a while since we’ve had an organised game night, but our recent foray into creative destruction in Gears of War 3′s Horde mode got me thinking. What’s stopping us? It seems that most of the community are on Xbox 360, but this is an open thread for any [...]

  • Richard Plant wrote a new blog post: Netflix launch   1 month, 2 weeks ago · View

Attention UK-ians, there’s no need to continue living in ignorance of the joy of hi-def streaming. Video rental service Netflix, fresh from conquering the US, has launched a service for all of us cowering under a bucket on these benighted shores. Available through Internet-connected televisions, PCs, the Xbox 360, PS3 and even the Wii, Netflix offers [...]

In much the same boat, it seems. Christmas has led to a further pile up of untouched games choking the life out of my Steam list.

Well done on bringing up Dead Space 2 chaps, that game deserved a great deal more attention than it eventually received.

ThumbnailBethesda did a fantastic job of building a great player experience with their latest action RPG extravaganza, and as our fawning Skyrim review should go to show, we’re huge fans of their efforts. Still, there are niggling flaws that could do with a little hand to smooth out, so it’s a good job that the developers [...]

Thumbnail Hail, friend, and well met. Flagon of mead? Well, if you’re offering… Let me tell you a story then, since you’ve been so generous. There was this time, back before the bloody flying lizards started popping up everywhere, that I served the Jarl of this one-horse little market town called Whiterun. The chief was a jerk, always sending [...]

BF3 is a great game, but it can sometimes feel quite big and impersonal. The maps in BFBC2 are usually a bit smaller and more urban, makes for a more frantic playing experience.
