A tweet confirmed it’s all new tech, for which I am grateful. One thing that could certainly be said for Oblivion was that it had certain… nuances about it, thanks to the rather chunky-feeling engine. Geographically, Skyrim appears to be a smaller province than Cyrodiil, so all I can ask of Bethesda is that they give us something a little less copy-and-paste, and something more varied. I’ve travelled the width and breadth of TESIV, and other than quests and levelling, I feel little incentive to enter each cave, mine and ruined fort; after hours of repetitive interiors, what’s the point? I thrill at those individual moments the game can produce (you should’ve seen me when I heard some dialogue last month that I had never heard, despite playing without rest since launch), and the prospect of exploration and discovery has always propelled me forward. Let’s hope Bethesda can really bring it in terms of depth of content, as they always have, but with more variety.
