It’s the weekend, a time for rest, relaxation and copious amounts of reading. What? What do you mean that’s boring? Wait, come back!
- In a similar vein to last week’s Black Ops video (lauded as “an FPS so good you don’t even have to fire your weapon to play it!”. Just now. By me.) here’s one intrepid gamer’s attempt to play Kinect Joy Ride with out moving a muscle. Spoiler, he comes in third.
- Tom Pakinkis at CVG wished the Xbox 360 a very happy fifth birthday earlier this week, and then promptly exhorted it to just die already. I’m not sure I find his case all that compelling but, well, have a read and make up your own mind.
- Over at The Escapist, Yahtzee takes Force Unleashed II to task for being, um “too much”. Too much of what, you ask? Too much of everything it seems. It’s an interesting analysis and proof that his written columns can be much more entertaining that his rapid fire Zero Punctuation videos.
- I was writing about Minecraft before it was cool yo, but here’s its creator Markus “Notch” Persson talking to Rock, Paper, Shotgun about his former life, the game’s success and starting his own development team.
- Uncharted, the ace PS3 series that plays out very like a modern Indiana Jones movie is getting a movie adaptation. For some reason. Marky Mark Wahlberg has been cast as Nathan Drake. That sound you heard was my head hitting my desk, by the way.
- After casual game maker Zygna was exposed as a bit of a monster a while back (something we’ve talked about in a previous edition of WR) the charm counter-offensive seems to have gotten underway with this frankly sickening piece of sycophancy in the Telegraph. The piece claims every day is “Bring your dog to work” day at the company. They fail to mention every day is also “How can we rip off someone else’s idea?” day.
Ugh. I feel a bit nauseous after that. Here’s a happy-happy joy-joy chaser courtesy of Pope Friction and their interpretation of a Billy Joel classic. I give you “The Wii Didn’t Start The Fire”:

AMAZING kinect video XD
Excellent. That Kinnect video is hilarious. The Billy Joel cover wasn’t bad either.
I really love that Kinect video, every time i think about getting one I just watch that.
The Tom Pakinkis editorial on the Xbox 360 is a great read.
Good reading and watching, much enjoyed.
Puppynet awwww that’s so sweet Zynga are just so swell aren’t they? I mean gaming alone but being logged into facebook is obviously more social than say actually playing a multiplayer game where you talk to other players.
I’m not sure about the death of the 360 thing. of course it’s inevitable but he seems to be countering his own opinions he names 5 games and says some to the tune of “sure these will all be great games” and also the part about Kinect being a great piece of tech but so is a pacemaker….yes it is a great piece of tech, so you think we should bin pacemakers?
