In less than six hours, Modern Warfare 2 will be released to us, the general public, at a host of midnight events across the UK and Ireland. But before you head out the door to your favourite games shop, you may want to swing by the nearest supermarket. Some of your local grocery mega stores will be selling this year’s biggest game at cut down prices.
Recommended Retail Price: £55
General Online Price: £45
ASDA: £32
Teso: £25 (when bought alongside another top 20 game)
Sainsbury’s: £26
I don’t know about you, but I’m hopping down my local Sainsbury’s in the morning. Where are the Citizens going to spend their wages? Or do some of you lucky chaps have a copy already?

Snowmobiling is way more satisfying when it costs less than a lapdance

At my local ladies club a lapdance costs £20. Now that’s pleasure you can’t measure…
@Mark Craven Ahh okay, feel free to call me Archibald.
@IPC
Wow. You really know how to cut to the core of me.
Well I’ll likely pick this up for the 360 once I can confirm I know other people doing the same. I’ve been having literally zero lag problems or any multiplayer issues in recent months when on Xbox Live so I’ve no concerns over this either.
.
Ah the simple joys of console gaming
And Danny, Barry has the mental age of a 50-something year old. He’s the definition of an old dog
I Made the jump a few years ago and it was totally worth it. You should too before your in your 30′s and set in your ways.
@Danny
I find that I just can’t get comfortable with using a console controller for FPS games. I’ve been a PC junkie for so long that anything other than a mouse and keyboard just feels too weird.
I dont blame you Barry but I do feel sorry for you. Its a no win situation. Maybe rent the 360 version for the week?
In an amusing turn of events, if you pre-ordered the game on Steam if won’t unlock until Thursday, whereas store bought PC copies (that use Steamworks and /require/ you to register on Steam) work fine. And no one seems able to explain why.
I still haven’t bought it. As I mentioned on the ‘cast it’s a game I very much want to play, but I want to see how much the PC multiplayer has been affected by IW’s changes before I plonk down cash. To do so now would just endorse those changes blindly.
@Drumtasticnick the site was down for the majority of the yesterdays working day.
As much as I love the crazycraven name; feel free to call me Mark.
My local Sainsbury’s didnt have any games. booo! Bought a copy elsewhere. Its £45 in HMV and Argos btw.
Just picked up my copy at a midnight launch
@Mashakosha – Why? Because of how they’ve handles the PC version? Or somthing else?
They’d have to pay ME to play Modern Warfare 2.
@Crazycraven: The Makro site got spammed so much it crashed!
Yes, Game Night!!!
And I used two extra exclamation points because I wanted share my excitement.
Dont worry, details coming soon jay
I think there needs to be a CG Modern warfare game night this weekend.

Been ages since I worked at the one in Bristol.
right, first thing in the morning, im off to sainsburys. if all games were that much, id buy tons. I just refuse to spend £55 on a game.
