Mash-ups are cool. Capcom and Namco know this, DC and Midway know this, even Popcap and Valve know it! But for all the great mash-up games we’ve played over the years, there are thousands of possible combinations that have never seen the light of day. Imagine your two favourite games – two completely different genres and platforms – combined in a haphazard mish-mash of gameplay mechanics and graphical styles. I know, cool right?
In celebration of this, we have combined some of history’s finest games to create the ultimate gaming mashups. Many of these are too good to ever see the light of day, several are probably already in development, but all would be instant classics if ever released. This is Citizen Game’s top 5 games made from bits of names from other games! Don’t forget to click the thumbnails for full versions of each box.
#5) Gears of Persia
You play as a war-hardened soldier recently released from a prison cell in ancient Persia who has 60 minutes to save his girlfriend from a frankly unpleasant marriage to the evil sultan. Wearing the latest full body bullet-proof war suit and armed with enough firepower to murder and dismember a moderately populated Persian village you must defeat a handful of poorly trained swordsmen. Unfortunately, due to the haphazard design of the prison, you must climb towering walls and leap across dangerous caverns to reach your betrothed-belle. This can prove difficult in a two tonne war suit, so you must carefully choose when to ditch it and jump around naked as the day God made you. After a roller-coaster ride of blood, limbs and blatant emotional exposition you finally reach your wife. Once you pry her out of a steel sarcophagus and weep all over her rotting corpse in the most emotional scene in modern video-game history, you can take the fight online and battle against teams of cursing American children.
Games; Prince of Persia, Gears of War 2
#4) Sensible World of Warcraft
Put on your epic set, hop on that mount, and ride straight into 90 minutes of 11 v 11 footy between the Horde and Alliances factions. Sensible World of Warcraft bridges the wide gap between MMO nerd culture and outdoor sporting activities. Two clans (or “teams”) play against each other in 90 minutes quests (or “matches”) where both teams attempt to plant a cursed sphere (or “ball”) into their opponents dungeon (“goal”). At half time, both teams are allowed 15 minutes to re-buff, drink manna potions and open a new pack of Pringles. At full time, the team with the most successfully planted spheres receives 5000 XP, while the losers are given some ruined pelt and respawn at the nearest graveyard.
Games; Sensible World of Soccer, World of Wacraft
#3) Portal Kombat
Stuck at the base of a towering obelisk and armed with a gun capable of creating portals between Earthrealm and the Outworld, you must navigate through a variety of physical logic puzzles to reach the top. Use the portal gun to transport a variety of hand-to-hand combatants to aid you in your escape. Have Sub Zero freeze pits of biological waste – get Scorpion to retrieve distant companion cubes with his rope-spear. Turrets blocking your path? Have Jax thump the ground repeatedly like an asshole until they all fall over. With teamwork and friendship you will eventually reach the top and come face to face with your malevolent computerised captor. There’s only one thing left to do; FINISH HER!
Games; Portal, Mortal Kombat
#2) Left 4 The House Of The Rising Dead - Xtreme Space Beach Volleyball
ou and three friends enter a house full of bikini-clad space zombies bent on spreading the popularity of beach volleyball throughout the galaxy. Take control of either a photojournalist, a steel-suited systems engineer, a woman with bouncy breasts or Agent G across 5 massive co-op missions. Share resources such as pain pills, stuffed animal heads and arc welders. Gain PP by taking pictures of zombies models, and strategically dismember their bouncy breasts with your trusty arc welder. Also available: Typing of the Left 4 The House Of The Rising Dead – Space Beach Volleyball.
Games; Left 4 Dead 2, House of the Dead, Dead Rising, Dead Space, Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball
#1) Kick 50 Cent’s Face Off
A rhythm action game where squads of football and ice hockey players take it in turns to repeatedly kick 50 cent in the face to the beat of some of his most popular rap songs. Kick your way through “In da Club”, “21 questions” and “Candy Shop” among others. At the end of each song Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson lies weeping in a pool of his own blood and teeth, but the fun doesn’t end there! Players skilled enough to receive a 5-star rating are given the opportunity to “Kick 50 Cent’s Face Off” in an orgasm of blood and brutal satisfaction. K50CFO supports Playstation Move and Kinnect for Xbox 360.
Games; Kick off, Face Off, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand
*The concept for this section comes from a feature I once read in an Amiga magazine in the early 90′s. It was either Amiga Power or One Amiga. Either way, much respect.
Over to you Citizens, what games would you like to see mashed together?
Now I throw it over

@Denis. You need to leave some options open for a sequel.
Mark that last one should of included vs Marvel vs SNK vs Capcom
Batman Project Gotham Racing.
Black Power Diggerz
Black Ops: Power Diggerz
Lady Gaga Revenge – Battle of the Bulge
Gods vs. Humans vs. Aliens vs. Predator vs. Stalin vs. Martians vs Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper
Dead Space Invaders
The Legend of Zelda: Fat Princess
FIFA Street Fighter
Star Wars: Sonic Unleashed
Brütal Legend of Zelda
Lara Croft: Lazy Raider
Battlefield: Bad Katamari
Do I really need to elaborate on why Katamari with destructible environments would be awesome? Didn’t think so.
Argh, Sensible Soccer AND Wow?! I don’t think I’d move from my room for a month.
Command & Conker?
RTS using squirrels in a cannon fodder style-ee. It would also allow a more literal use of the term ‘bunny-hopping’.
Had a chuckle at Portal Kombat, would be keen to play that!
Brilliant, I’d pay for Kick 50 Cent’s Face Off, I’d buy the special edition and purchase any DLC, prequels, spin-off and GOTY Editions. Make it happen someone.
